Some months ago, the ENLP Spanish Local Circle (joining Spanish ENLP alumni) was invited to organize a session at the ‘I Congress of Young Nutrition Researchers’, held in Madrid in February 2020. Of course, we accepted the invitation, since we are always happy to promote ENLP learning and to engage with other people, especially young nutrition researchers, and encourage them to apply for ENLP seminars. Moreover, this congress was really aligned with the ENLP spirit, with sessions about entrepreneurship and communication skills.

We finally held our session on February 22nd. Despite it being on a Saturday afternoon at the end of the congress, we had an audience of 30 people who were really engaged with the session. We focused on two aspects, developed with practical activities:

● The meaning of leadership. For this, the attendants worked in small teams, explaining previous experiences in their lives when someone inspired them as a leader. Then, they prepared a mural with the words that they considered to be leader definitions. It was very nice to have a discussion about these terms afterwards, since they were really diverse: empathic, organized, flexible, brave… So they showed all the attributes we may find in a leader and how leaders may be quite different.

● The richness of different personalities. In this activity, each attendant randomly received several cards with attributes. Then, they had to exchange them with their partners until they finished with the cards that defined them best. This allowed us to talk about different personalities and the good results we may have when we are able to connect them in a team (as well as the bad experiences we have when these personalities are not connected…).

Finally, we projected the video we prepared a few years ago with interviews of some ENLPers and we provided practical information about ENLP activities.

We are very thankful to the organizers of the congress for this invitation and we look forward to future collaborations!
