Are you a professional working in the field of nutrition or food? Do you want to develop critical leadership skills relevant across sectors, in food and nutrition? If so, ENLP Advanced is the programme for you.

Set up in 2010 by a group of passionate ENLP alumni, ENLP Advanced is a 3-day ground-breaking programme aimed at mid-career and senior professionals who want to become more effective leaders. The programme focuses on non-scientific / soft-skill challenges such as leadership and interpersonal and strategic influence.

ENLP Advanced is run once a year, building on the learnings of each previous cohort and the input of ENLP alumni and faculty.  The programme is delivered by a leading international leadership consultancy; number of participants is strictly limited to ensure a high degree of participation, tailoring, and 1-1 coaching opportunities.

ENLP Advanced Learning Objectives:

During the 3-day, full-time, hands-on Advanced ENLP Programme, participants acquire knowledge, tools and tactics to navigate both academic and commercial nutrition waters, including:

  • Strategies for effective teamwork.
  • Up and down the line of reporting, across stakeholder groups and sectors
  • Recognising and implementing a range of leadership styles, suited for different challenges and situations.
  • Approaches for building personal impact and reputation.
  • Practical influencing tools.
  • Confidence in negotiations.
  • Effective strategies for giving feedback, difficult conversations and conflict resolution.
  • An introduction to INSIGHTS – a tool to develop effective working with others – including those different to you!
  • A 360 Review Process – gaining powerful insights to how others see you

Participants experience:

The seminar is highly involving, with small group working and opportunities to explore individual professional challenges. This allows participants to apply what they have learned in real-world situations. Interactive, small group and one to one sessions make this an extremely relevant and high-impact experience.

In the dictionary it says: “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose”. Suppose that humans want to accomplish all needs as described by Maslow: “How well am I scoring?” My immediate physical needs are taken care off: I feel safe.

One thing ENLP taught me is that leadership is about my own vision and dream.

You’ll see that ‘’networking’’ is THE keyword of the ENLP. You may disagree at first (that was in my case), but later you’ll realise the immense importance of this.

Director ENLP Advanced Programme

Professor Emilie Combet

(2021 – present)

I am a Professor Human Nutrition at the University of Glasgow (UoG), School of Medicine; my research focuses on the role of food and diet in sustaining lifelong health, with a particular interest in obesity, stress and their impact on health trajectories through life.

I originally trained in Lyon, France in biological and biochemical analytical techniques, before moving to the UK. My PhD was in the field of food quality, with postdoctoral research experience in nutritional biochemistry. My research involves human interventions, cross-sectional surveys as well as lab-based biomarker studies, and I also teach on the Master in Human Nutrition at UoG.

As a ENLP Advanced seminar alumna (2016), I have kept in touch with the network and enjoy interactions with colleagues working in different disciplines linked to nutrition. In particular, the ENLP Network has been a rich source of inspiration on how to collaborate effectively and creatively with others.
